Project Details:
The works carried out under this contract involved the construction development works to facilitate the harvesting of peat.
The scope of works included the following:

- Clearing and levelling of existing cutaway area to form 11 no. spread grounds;
- Upgrading of 175m of existing gravel access
- Provision of a new box culvert under the upgraded gravel access track;
- Construction of new floated roads
- Provision of 8 no. access points from the floated road within the extraction area to the proposed spread grounds
- Cleaning and clearing of the existing facebank and deepening and extension of the facebank drain where required;
- Provision of new drains within the spread grounds;
- Retention and/or cleaning of some of the existing drains;
- Construction of a silt and attenuation pond
- Erection of new post and mesh fencing around the silt pond
